Write for SS101

SO you’ve got something to share, hmm?

Great! We’re all ears.

Much of the content here on Shoestring101 is originally contributed by the founder, Kurt Frankenberg (me! oooh, me, the guy writing this post) but I get out of the way when someone smarter than me comes to share. And I think that could be YOU.

SO! How do we do things around here?

Shoestring101 Mission Statement

Shoestring101 helps ‘Bizness” owners make more money, have more fun, and do less bizzy work. We believe in using the latest “hacks” but only if they are firmly founded in the oldest principles. We also believe that if you’re not making crazy piles of money… more than enough for you, our family, and the causes you support… and having the time of our life while doing it… it’s time to get back on track.

Every contribution needs to support this mission statement and its original intent. Good so far? Great…

Our Point of View

We hold this this to be true: that it’s easier and more rewarding than ever to start a business that gives you more than enough while doing what you love. The world has become so easy to access through the internet and person to person. You can connect with people that value what you value, share the solutions that you have made for yourself, and generate a more than adequate income for yourself and others without a great deal of headache.

We’re about showing how-to’s, not just rah-rah’s.

We’ll point our readers in the right direction, even if it means pointing them away from this site.

We want to observe timeless principles, but be open to cutting-edge techniques.

We’re about making the world a better place for those who are making the world a better place… ENTREPRENEURS.

Personality and Tone of SS101

Good grammar is appreciated, but content is more important. For that reason, I put in a couple of intentional misspellings (Bizness) and that’s okay.

The tone of the blog is meant to be:

REAL

A little upbeat

Optimistic

Encouraging

…and chock full of action items. “You can do it!” is implied by showing “Here’s how you do it.”

Humor is good. Humor that’s chock full of usefulness is better. In fact, just give me the useful. If it’s got a funny tone or story attached, that’s fine but it’s useful that we all appreciate here.

A Word About Profanity

I struggled a bit with whether or not to call Shoestring Step ONE, “Get OFF Your ASS.” But my wife correctly pointed out that if I lost readers, it wouldn’t be over saying the word “ass” in a blog post… it would be over telling folks to get off of it.

😉

That said, let’s keep it PG-13 around here. I have a few young readers here. And though they go to public school, and have access to a digital world that says, “WTF” at least twice a minute… I wanna set a certain standard of communication.

If saying that something is “bullshit” is an occasional shocker, well I guess that’s fine. But let’s not go overboard dropping F-bombs here and there with utter abandon. I think it takes away from the emphasis it seems to make in Ted talks.

( 😉 again)

Please connect with me on Twitter, Facebook, or use the Contact Us form here if you’re interested to contribute to SS101. Thanks!

Keep Stepping,

Kurt
