What This Post ISN’T About..!
So, I’m working on a post where I found a guy that started a scuba shop… in COLORADO… to finance his own scuba habit.
Don’t laugh. In a community where very few business owners make it past the first twenty-four months, The Underwater Connection has been thriving for over twenty five YEARS.
And in case you’re not up on your geography, the nearest ocean to Colorado is about 1500 miles. Go figure.
BUT..! That post is still in the gestation process. So using your hobby to make a business is not why I’m writing to you today.
I’m writing because I’ve got me a fourteen-year-old kid that wants to make some money. And I don’t believe in just handing him an allowance without somehow connecting in his heart and soul that money is a measure of the service that you render to others.
So in order to show my readers on this blog that it is indeed possible to start a business almost instantly and begin making money right away… that’s what we’re gonna do.
Founding a Brand-Spankin’ New Bizness…
I’ve just moved my home to Colorado Springs. I have no business presence here at all, but starting today I will begin the Shoestring Steps to put my son and me on the map. We’re starting a brand new biz as of NOW… below I’ll give the details. We start promoting it and preparing right now (May 9, 2012) and I expect that by June 9, 2012 we’ll be able to report to you a $1,000 profit from the bizness.
In case you’re new to Shoestring101, this is what I’m about: teaching folks that small business ownership doesn’t involve a lot of the things you might imagine. What it DOES involve… every single time… is doing five specific Steps, and doing them in a specific order. I call these Steps the “Shoestring101 Steps” and it doesn’t matter what kind of business you want to be in… you cannot succeed without them.
Over the last twenty-seven years I’ve been in business for myself… from multi-level marketing (Amway is how I got my start), to a martial arts studio which I started in 1986 (STILL in business!), to a number of service businesses and even internet marketing. All of these bad boys required the five Shoestring101 Steps to become successful. And now I’m gonna walk my boy through the Steps as well.
We’re truly taking to heart a line from the Talmud, which loosely interpreted is, “He that does not teach his son a trade, teaches him to steal.” Well, shucks. Who wants to raise their kid to be a thief? Not this guy.
SO. Be looking for further posts in which I show the order of the Steps. We’re starting with nothing and will be up to a thousand bucks… on the side… in 30 days. Write today down 😉
There are four different types of Shoestring101 Biznesses… we have chosen to do a Service Bizness because that has the quickest route to actual cash in hand. Other SS101 Bizness models make for longer-term success, but the service variety has the quickest and simplest route.
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I DO have the advantage of having run a screen repair/window cleaning company in the past. But this is a totally new venture with a totally new investment in equipment, marketing, and materials. I’m doing it just to tick off the me-monsters that say, “You can’t make any money in this economy. B.S..! We’ll take this thing from ground zero to $1,000 per month or better in 30 days. Expect to see daily posts with activity, income, and expense reports.
